Jono grew up in Southern Highlands where he finished his schooling at Chevalier College. An 8 year old Jono already had a passion for skiing and was a competition winner on numerous occasions. When his mum bought a business in Thredbo he was able to go to Jindabyne Primary and spent term 3 in the mountains and studying via correspondence. He started traveling to Europe with his race club (Thredbo Ski Race Club) at age 11.
Jono showed his outstanding talent by consistently winning Australian junior championships. It was only a question of time until he won his first international junior race. At the age of 20 he won his first big race - North American Cup - against World Cup participants. For the following year he was clearly No 2 in the world in his age group. Over time he has manged to add many high profile races to his name, including victory in Europe Cup and many overall titles in the Australian and New Zealand Cup.
